The Speech

In every moment of sports there is that defining moment, that speech that a coach or player may bring to their team to get them ready to finish a game for the ages.

Yesterday afternoon one of those moments came about as Coach Steve Lavin huddled his team in during a time out and spoke the words that brought the motivation to defeat (THEN) #4 Pittsburgh.

"Life will never get any better than this moment," the coach told them. "This is Madison Square Garden, you have this place electrified, you're playing with your best friends, and we're playing the No. 4 team in the country."

Though it might not have been a speech that won a championship game it separated Lavin from any other coach St. John's has had since Lou Carnesseca. He has the passion and brain to help this team and future Johnnies be the best...and beat the the country.
